We know that empowerment is the best way to be self sufficient. We therefore introduced income generating projects as a way to empower people in the communities we work in. We also introduced an emergency food program to help struggling families during drought seasons since most of them are farmers. Our focus right now is working with families within our own community of Wairaka outside of Jinja Distrist.
Wairaka is located in Kakira Sub-county in Jinja District approximately 15 kilometres (9 mi) east of the city of Jinja. The geographical coordinates of Wairaka, Uganda are 0°28'29.0"N, 33°15'52.0"E (Latitude:0.474722; Longitude:33.264444). Wairaka's average elevation is 1,132 metres (3,714 ft) above sea level.
We are modeling what Jesus did when he lived on earth. He built relationships, took care of peoples' needs and sometimes fed thousands as he taught them about the Kingdom of God.

Our neighborhood is primarily low-income with the major income-generating activities being micro-businesses, subsistence farming, and animal grazing. When we find a family in need, we give them two goats, a male and a female. When the goats reproduce and get to about five goats per family, the family then gives back one goat which we then pair with another and bless a different family. It’s a business that keeps on giving. Goats need very little land to be raised. They are mostly raised for meat although we're trying to educate them to also milk them.

One of the ways we are building relationships with the people in our community is through home visits. We listen to their stories and struggles, we share our own stories and together, we lift/encourage each other in prayer. This opens up the door for us to be able to share the goodnews of Jesus Christ.
